磔其（上陟格反考聲云磔張也博雅云殺而膊之曰磔說文從石桀聲經作桀俗字也音竭也）。

磔其 [zhéqí, dismember it]: the first character is pronounced 陟 + 格 fanqie. The Kaosheng says: '磔 means to pull apart or dismember.' The Boya says: 'To kill and tear apart is called 磔.' The Shuowen states that it takes the stone radical (石) with jié (桀) providing the sound. In the sūtra it is written as 桀, which is a vulgar character, pronounced 竭 [jié].
