Spears and javelins 矛𥎞 (the upper has the fanqie mo-hou [mɨəu]. The Shuowen jiezi says: “A spear is one zhang and two chi long, mounted on war chariots.” In the sūtra it is written under radical 金 as 𨥨, an ancient character. The lower has the fanqie cang-luan [t͡sʰuɑn]. The Guangya says: “A 𥎞 is called a javelin (鋋).” The Kaosheng says: “A short spear.” The Gujin zhengzi states it is derived from radical 矛 with 贊 [zàn] as phonetic. In the sūtra it is erroneously written under radical 木 as 爨. 鋌 has the fanqie shi-zhan [d͡ʑiɛn]; 贊 has the sound zan [t͡sɑn]).
