佛頿（子雌反說文云頿口上須也從須此聲今譜中從洛從毛非也本俗字從咨從毛作𣯃書人不會又改從洛偽中更偽亦非也釋迦譜從髟作髭亦俗字也）。

佛頿 (Fanqie 子 + 雌. The Shuowen says: '頿 is the beard above the mouth; formed with "beard" [須] as semantic and 此 as phonetic.' Now in the genealogy it is written with 洛 and 毛, which is incorrect. Originally the popular character was formed with 咨 and 毛 as 𣯃; the scribes, not understanding this, further altered it to follow 洛, which is an error upon an error and also wrong. The Shijia pu writes it with 髟 as 髭, which is also a popular character.)
