Tranquil and calm (恬憺): The upper character is [read with the fanqie] 牒嫌. The Fangyan says: '恬 means quiet.' The Shuowen jiezi states it takes 心 as radical and 甜 abbreviated as phonetic. The lower character is [read with the fanqie] 談敢; it is also pronounced 談. The Shuowen jiezi says: '憺 means peaceful; it takes 心 as radical and 詹 as phonetic.'
