諸仞（下人振反包咸注論語云七尺曰仞杜注左傳度深曰仞也說文云臂一尋也從人刃聲）。

Several fathoms (諸仞: the second character has the fanqie 人振 [rén + zhèn -> rèn]; Bao Xian's commentary on the *Analects* says: "Seven feet is called a *ren* (仞)." Du's commentary on the *Zuo zhuan* says: "Measuring depth is called a *ren*." The *Shuowen [jiezi]* says: "One arm-span (*xun*); it takes the 'person' radical with *ren* (刃) phonetic").
