賈販（上姑戶反鄭注周禮云通物曰商居賣曰賈也杜注左傳云賈買也爾雅[一/巿]也說文從貝西聲賈音古下發萬反鄭注周禮云朝買夕賣者也說文買賤賣貴者也從貝反聲）。

Trading and merchandising (賈販: the first character has the fanqie 姑戶 [gū + hù -> gǔ]; Zheng's commentary on the *Zhouli* says: "Circulating goods is called *shang* (商); selling at a fixed place is called *gu* (賈)." Du's commentary on the *Zuo zhuan* says: "*Gu* means to purchase." The *Erya* says: "Market (*shi* [一/巿])." The *Shuowen [jiezi]* has it with the 'cowrie' radical and *xi* (西) phonetic; *gu* (賈) has the sound 古 [gǔ]. The second character has the fanqie 發萬 [fā + wàn -> fàn]; Zheng's commentary on the *Zhouli* says: "One who buys in the morning and sells in the evening." The *Shuowen [jiezi]* says: "One who buys low and sells high; it takes the 'cowrie' radical with *fan* (反) phonetic").
