擘傷（上音百鄭注考工記云擘破裂也說文從手辟聲也經從刀作劈非也音匹亦反非經義也）。

Bòshāng 擘傷 (the first character is pronounced bǎi; Zheng's commentary on the Kaogongji states that bò means 'to split or tear open'; the Shuowen jiezi analyzes it as having radical 'hand' (手) and phonetic pì (辟); in the sūtra text it is written with 'knife' (刀) as 劈, which is incorrect; it is pronounced p- + y- [pǐ yì], which does not convey the meaning intended in the sūtra).
