牽掣（上啟堅反考聲牽連也廣雅牽挽也說文引前也從牛從宀音綿玄聲也或作牽下赤熱反考聲頓拽延結反縮也亦作摯𢊏）。

牽掣 (qiānchè; the upper character has the fanqie 啟堅 [qiān]; the Kaosheng says it means to lead along or connect; the Guangya says it means to pull or drag; the Shuowen jiezi says it means to pull forward; it is composed of 牛 [ox] and 宀 [roof], pronounced mián, with 玄 giving the sound; it is also written as 牽; the lower character has the fanqie 赤熱 [chè]; the Kaosheng says it means to tug or jerk abruptly, [which has the fanqie] 延結 [yè], meaning to contract; it is also written as 摯 or 𢊏).
