盥洗（古短反說文澡手也從臼從水皿皿器物也臼音掬皿音美秉反春秋傳曰奉迤沃盥有作去聲古翫反亦通下先禮反說文濯足也）。

Washing hands and feet (盥洗: [the first character is] pronounced 古 + 短 fanqie; Shuowen says: to wash hands; it is composed of jiu [臼], shui [水], and min [皿]; 皿 is a vessel; 臼 is pronounced 掬; 皿 is pronounced 美 + 秉 fanqie; the Zuo Tradition says: 'Holding the basin and pouring water to wash hands'; pronounced in the falling tone as 古 + 翫 fanqie is also acceptable; the second character is pronounced 先 + 禮 fanqie; Shuowen says: to wash feet).
