聾聞（上祿東反左傳云耳不聽五聲之和為聾杜預注云聾暗也蒼頡篇云耳無聞也說文從耳龍聲也）。

聾聞 ("Deaf hearing"): The first character is pronounced with the fanqie 祿 + 東 (lóng). The Zuo zhuan states: 'The ears not hearing the harmony of the five notes constitutes lóng (deafness).' Du Yu's commentary states: 'Lóng means obtuse.' The Cangjie pian states: 'The ears having no hearing.' The Shuowen jiezi states that it takes the radical 耳 (ear) with 龍 as the phonetic.
