胼贅（上辮眠反廣雅云賆猶益也古今正字從貝并聲錄文從馬作駢駕二馬也義乖不取下拙芮反淮南子云贅者賣子與人作奴婢也顧野王居婦家之壻為贅也說文從貝從敖會意字也）。

Superfluous growth (胼贅: the first character has the fanqie 辮眠 [pián]; the Guangya says: 'Pián is like an increase.' The Gujin zhengzi says it takes 'cowry' [貝] as radical and has bìng [并] as phonetic. The catalogue text writes it with 'horse' [馬] as 駢, meaning a pair of horses harnessed together, whose sense is inappropriate and not adopted. The second character has the fanqie 拙芮 [zhuì]; the Huainanzi says: 'Zhuì refers to selling one's children to others as slaves.' Gu Yewang says: 'A son-in-law living in his wife's household is called zhuì.' The Shuowen jiezi says it takes 'cowry' [貝] and áo [敖] as an associative compound character).
