接踵(下鍾隴反禮記云舉前曳踵行杜注左傳云踵猶躡趾也聲類足跟也說文從足重聲跟音根趾音止)。

Following close behind (接踵: the second character has the fanqie 鍾隴 [zhǒng]; the Book of Rites says: 'Lifting the front [of the robe] and dragging the heels as one walks.' Du Yu's commentary on the Zuo Zhuan says: 'Zhǒng is like treading upon the heels.' The Shenglei says: 'The heel of the foot.' The Shuowen jiezi says it takes 'foot' [足] as radical and has zhòng [重] as phonetic; gēn is pronounced gēn; zhǐ is pronounced zhǐ).
