氐羌(上邸泥反鄭箋詩云氐夷狄名國名也說文從氏著一地也或作柢錄文作互也下却香反廣雅云羌強也說文云羌西戎羌人也從羊人聲錄文作羗俗字也)。

Di and Qiang (氐羌: the first character has the fanqie 邸泥 [dī]; Zheng Xuan's commentary on the Classic of Poetry says: 'Dī is the name of a foreign tribe and the name of a country.' The Shuowen jiezi says it takes shì [氏] with one line attached beneath representing the ground; it is also written as dǐ [柢]. The catalogue text writes it as hù [互]. The second character has the fanqie 却香 [qiāng]; the Guangya says: 'Qiāng means strong.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'The Qiang are the western Rong tribes, the Qiang people.' It takes 'sheep' [羊] and 'person' [人] as phonetic. The catalogue text writes it as 羗, a vulgar form).
