Model and pattern (楷模: the first character has the fanqie 客駭 [kǎi]; the Guangya says: 'Setting a rule.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Kǎi is a model.' It takes 'wood' [木] as radical and has jiē [皆] as phonetic; the catalogue text writes it with 'hand' [手] as radical, which is an error. The second character has the fanqie 睦蒲 [mó]; Zheng Xuan's commentary on the Mao Classic of Poetry says: 'Mó means a law.' The Guangya says: 'Form.' The Shuowen jiezi says it takes 'wood' [木] as radical and has mò [莫] as phonetic; the catalogue text writes it with 'hand' [手], which is an error).
