卓犖 (the second character is *l[ì]-jiǎo* fanqie; Ban Gu's *Western Capital Rhapsody* says: “Standing preeminent (*zhuóluò*) over all the Hua-Xia,” meaning surpassing all. The *Kaosheng* says: “*Zhuóluò* is like a lofty appearance.” The *Shuowen jiezi* has the same meaning: “It is composed of ‘ox’ (牛) with an abbreviated *láo* (勞) as phonetic”).
