相踵（鍾舅反聲類云踵足跟也顧野王云踵追也躡其踵所以為追逐也王逸注楚辭云繼也說文亦追也從足重聲）。

相踵 (*zhong* + *jiu* [fanqie]. The *Shenglei* says: "踵 is the heel of the foot." Gu Yewang says: "踵 means to pursue; treading upon another's heels is the way to pursue them." Wang Yi's commentary on the *Chuci* says: "To succeed / continue." The *Shuowen* also says: "To pursue; composed of the foot radical with 重 as the phonetic.")
