藷根（煮如反說文藷蔗也今非此物也蔗即甘蔗人但食苗根不堪喫傳云藷根明非甘蔗案本草署預一名土藷亦名山芋異菀曰署預野人謂之土諸玉篇亦說故不疑也）。

藷根 (煮如 fanqie. The Shuowen says: “藷 [zhū] is the sugarcane.” That is not this plant here. Sugarcane is gānzhe; people eat only the shoots, while the roots are inedible. Since the text says “yam root” [藷根], it clearly is not sugarcane. Note: The Bencao states that shuyu is also called tuzhu, and also called shanyu [yam]. The Yiyuan says: “Shuyu is called tuzhu by rustic folk.” The Yupian also explains this, so there is no doubt).
