檳榔（上音賓下音郎埤蒼云檳榔果名也其果似小螺可生啖能洽氣出交廣其名曰檳榔為樹𦭡乎如桂其未吐穗有似禾黍並形聲字）。

檳榔 (The first character is pronounced 賓; the second character is pronounced 郎. The Picang says: “The betel nut [bīnláng] is the name of a fruit. Its fruit resembles a small snail, can be eaten raw, and harmonizes the qi. Produced in Jiao and Guang, its name is betel nut. The tree is luxuriant like the cassia; before its ears burst forth, it resembles millet and broomcorn.” Both are phono-semantic characters).
