獷[田/山/大/丰]（上古猛反說文云獷惡犬不可附近也從犬廣聲下袍報反正從[(犀-尸)-牛+十]作[日/出/八/((犀-尸)-牛+十)]考聲云犯也速也今記中從米㬥是曬[晏-女+(大/米)]字非此義）。

獷[田/山/大/丰] Fierce and unruly (the first character is pronounced [in fanqie] 古 + 猛; the Shuowen says: "獷 means a vicious dog that cannot be approached; formed with 'dog' (犬) as semantic and 廣 as phonetic." The second character is pronounced [in fanqie] 袍 + 報; its standard form is written with [(犀-尸)-牛+十] as [日/出/八/((犀-尸)-牛+十)]; the Kaosheng says: "It means to trespass, or sudden;" now in the Record it is written with 'rice' as 㬥, which is the character for drying in the sun, not the meaning intended here).
