Monkeys and apes (猱猨, the first char. fanqie: 奴刀; the Mao Commentary on the Shijing says, '猱 is of the ape kind.' The character dictionaries say it is properly formed from [憂-心+此] as 獿. The treatise text writes it with 柔 as 𥠊, which is a popular form).
