剔翦（上他曆反玉篇云剔治也剃髮也說文從刀易聲下子賤反鄭箋毛詩云翦斷也爾雅云翦齊也說文云以齊斷之從羽前聲）。

Trimming and clipping [剔翦] (The upper character is 他 plus 曆 fanqie. The *Yupian* states: "剔 means to trim, to shave hair." The *Shuowen* has it with 'knife' [刀] and 易 phonetic. The lower character is 子 plus 賤 fanqie. Zheng's commentary on the *Mao Poetry* states: "翦 means to cut off." The *Erya* states: "翦 means to even out." The *Shuowen* states: "To cut evenly; composed of 羽 with 前 phonetic").
