氓俗（麥耕反鄭注周禮云變民言內外也氓猶𭞾𭞾無知皃也劉熙注漢書云遠郊之界稱泯說文從民亡聲）。

Common populace [氓俗] (麥 plus 耕 fanqie. Zheng's commentary on the *Zhouli* states: "Distinguishing the common people, speaking of inside and outside; 氓 is like 'muddled and ignorant' in appearance." Liu Xi's commentary on the *Hanshu* states: "The borders of the distant suburbs are called 泯." The *Shuowen* has it with 'people' [民] and 亡 phonetic).
