Shuttle and axle (杼軸: the upper [character 杼] is pronounced chu-lü fan [zhù]. The Shuowen [jiezi] says: “Formed with 木 ('wood') and yu phonetic.” The lower [character 軸 is] chong-liu fan [zhóu]. The Shuowen [jiezi] says: “Formed with 車 ('chariot') and you phonetic.” The Mao Shijing says: “The shuttles and looms are empty.” Zheng [Xuan]'s commentary note says: “Shuttles and looms are not working.”).
