宸鑒（上慎人反典說云天子有紫宸殿又宸光皆屬天子所居之屋也說文從宀辰聲宀音綿下夾懺反賈逵注國語云鑒察也杜注左傳云鑒戒也廣雅鑒照也說文從金監聲）。

Imperial discernment (宸鑒: the upper [character 宸 is] shen-ren fan [chén]. The Dianshuo says: “The Son of Heaven has the Zichen Hall; moreover, chen-radiance belongs entirely to the chambers where the Son of Heaven resides.” The Shuowen [jiezi] says: “Formed with 宀 ('roof') and chen phonetic.” 宀 is pronounced mian [mián]. The lower [character 鑒 is] jia-chan fan [jiàn]. Jia Kui's commentary on the Guoyu says: “Jian means to examine.” Du [Yu]'s commentary on the Zuozhuan says: “Jian means warning/mirror.” The Guangya says: “Jian means to reflect light.” The Shuowen [jiezi] says: “Formed with 金 ('metal') and jian phonetic.”).
