鞮譯（帝奚反考聲云鞮比狄西戎号也廣雅云狄鞮譯也說文鞮革履也從革是聲下盈隻反考聲云北狄也禮記亦北方曰譯也說文譯傳四夷之言也從言睪聲睪音亦論從幸作譯俗字非也）。

鞮譯 (The first syllable has the fanqie 帝奚 [dī]. The Kaosheng says: "鞮 [dī] compares to the Di; it is a designation of the Western Rong." The Guangya says: "Didi means an interpreter." The Shuowen jiezi says: "鞮 means leather shoes." It takes 革 [gé] as semantic and 是 [shì] as phonetic. The second syllable has the fanqie 盈隻 [yì]. The Kaosheng says: "Northern Di." The Liji also says: "Those of the north are called interpreters (譯)." The Shuowen jiezi says: "譯 means to convey the speech of the four barbarian tribes." It takes 言 [yán] as semantic and 睪 [yì] as phonetic. 睪 is also pronounced 亦 [yì]. In common discourse, writing it with 幸 as 譯 is an erroneous vulgar character.)
