殫藻繢 (The first syllable is pronounced 丹 [dān]. The Kaosheng says: "殫 [dān] means to exhaust entirely." In common texts, writing it with 弓 as 彈 is an error. The middle syllable is pronounced 早 [zǎo]. Kong [Anguo's] commentary to the Shangshu says: "藻 [zǎo] is aquatic vegetation with patterns." The Kaosheng says: "Literary patterns and rich colors." The last syllable is pronounced 會 [huì]. The Kaosheng says: "繢 [huì] means painting/embroidery." The Cangjiepian says: "繢 refers to variegated braided patterns of many colors." The Shuowen jiezi says it takes vertical 糸 [mì] as semantic and 貴 [guì] as phonetic.)
