Primal ether (烟熅: the first [character] is pronounced *yin* [yīn]; the second is *yu-yun* [y- + -ùn = yùn] in fanqie; the Boya says: “It is the ether of heaven and earth.” In the treatise it is written as 氤氳. The Kaosheng says it is the appearance of cloudy ether; both forms are acceptable).
