Gritting teeth (𥔐齒: the first [character] is *kan-ge* [k- + -è = kè] in fanqie; the Guiyuan zhucong says: “𥔐 refers to the sound of stones grinding against each other.” The Shuowen says: “Categorized under 'stone' with 盇 as phonetic; 盇 is pronounced *he* [hé]; it is also written as 盍”).
