Perfect and limpid (圓湛): [The second character is pronounced] *zhi* + *jian* fan. Note that *zhan* (湛) is akin to clear. The Kaosheng says: 'The appearance of water being limpid.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It is formed with [the semantic classifier] water (水) and the phonetic component *shen* (甚).'
