彩絢（血絹反馬注論語絢文貌也鄭注儀禮彩文成曰絢說文從糸從旬聲）。

Variegated and resplendent (彩絢): [The second character is pronounced] *xue* + *juan* fan. Ma [Rong's] commentary on the Analects says: '絢 refers to the appearance of ornamentation.' Zheng [Xuan's] commentary on the Yili says: 'When colored patterns are accomplished, it is called *xuan* (絢).' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It is formed with [the semantic classifier] silk (糸) and the phonetic component *xun* (旬).'
