摽揭（上必逍反司馬彪注莊子云元本摽未戰國策云舉摽甚高說文從手票聲票音必遙反下處孽反鄭注周禮云表志謂之揭顧野王云摽謂揭表以識之識音志說文云揭猶高舉也從手曷聲）。

To announce and display (for the first [character 摽], b- + [x]iao [biāo]; Sima Biao's commentary to Zhuangzi says: “The origin is marked out.” The Strategies of the Warring States says: “Raising the marker very high.” The Shuowen says: “It follows 手 (hand) with 票 as phonetic.” 票 is pronounced b- + [y]ao [biāo]. For the second [character 揭], ch- + [n]ie [jiē]; Zheng's commentary to the Rites of Zhou says: “An outward sign is called a 'jie'.” Gu Yewang says: “'Biao' means posting a marker to record it.” 識 is pronounced zhi [zhì]. The Shuowen says: “'Jie' is like raising high; it follows 手 (hand) with 曷 as phonetic.”).
