短綆（下羹杏反杜預注左傳云綆即汲水繩也方言韓豊之間謂索為綆也說文從糸更聲）。
短綆 (the second character has the fanqie: 羹 + 杏 [gěng]). Du Yu's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: 'A gěng is a rope for drawing water.' The Fangyan says: 'Between Han and Feng, a rope is called a gěng.' The Shuowen [indicates that] it takes 糸 as radical and 更 as phonetic.
