連緜（古文聯同力錢反廣雅連續也合也緜亦連也謂相續不斷也字從耳耳連於頰也從絲絲連不絕也）。

連緜 [continuous]: In ancient script 聯 and 連 are the same, [pronounced with the] fanqie 力錢 (lián). The Guangya says: "連 means to continue; it means to join." 緜 also means to connect; it refers to continuing without interruption. The character [聯] takes 耳 (ear) as radical, for the ears are attached to the cheeks. It also takes 絲 (silk) as radical, for silk threads are continuous and unbroken.
