街巷（古鞋反說文街四通道也下作衖同胡絳反三蒼街交道也衖里中別道）。

街巷 [streets and alleys]: [The first character is pronounced with the] fanqie 古鞋 (jiē). The Shuowen jiezi says: "街 means a thoroughfare opening to four directions." The second character is written 衖; both are [pronounced with the] fanqie 胡絳 (xiàng). The Sancang says: "街 is an intersection of roads; 衖 is a side-lane within a ward."
