苫凷（上攝占反玉篇作寑顧野王云葠猶苫也謂以草自藉也禮記器服傳寑葠枕由也文字典說云葠器𮑭也從草侵聲與傳文苫字義略同葠苫皆同音𰱳情夜反下枯外反說文從土凵聲凵口范反或作塊音同也）。

Straw mat and clod of earth (苫凷: the first character is shè + zhān fanqie [shān]. The Yupian writes it as 寑. Gu Yewang says: "葠 is like 苫, meaning to lie upon straw." The record on garments and vessels in the Book of Rites says: "Sleeping upon straw with a clod for a pillow." The Wenzidian shuo says: "葠 is a vessel liner; it has the grass radical, with 侵 as phonetic." Its meaning is roughly the same as 苫 in the text. 葠 and 苫 have the same pronunciation; 𰱳 is qíng + yè fanqie [qiè]. The second character is kū + wài fanqie [kuài]. The Shuowen says: "It has the earth radical, with 凵 as phonetic." 凵 is kǒu + fàn fanqie [kǎn]. It is also written as 塊, with the same pronunciation).
