荏苒（上任寢反下而琰反韻略云荏苒草色貌也按荏苒若今之因循蹉𧿶之類是也說文荏從廾任聲苒從廾冉聲舟音同廾音草）。

Gradual passing of time (荏苒: the first character is rèn + qǐn fanqie [rěn]; the second is ér + yǎn fanqie [rǎn]. The Yunlüe says: "荏苒 is the appearance of grass coloration." Note that 荏苒 is like what is nowadays called drifting along or letting time slip by.
