層巘 (tiered peaks: the first character is a fanqie of 贈 and 棱 [céng]; Guo Pu's commentary to the Shanhaijing states: '層 means doubled.' Wang Yi's commentary to the Chuci states: 'It means accumulated.' The Shuowen states: '層 means a multi-storied building;' it has semantic 尸 and phonetic 曾. The second character is a fanqie of 言 and 蹇 [yǎn]; Guo Pu's commentary to the Erya states: '巘 refers to a mountain shaped like two stacked caldrons (zēng).' The Gujin zhengzi gives the same meaning, analyzing it as semantic 山 and phonetic 獻).
