倨傲（上居御反杜預注左傳云倨傲也鄭玄注禮記云倨不敬也說文云倨不遜也從人居聲下熬誥反孔注尚書云傲慢也博雅云蕩也廣雅云慢也說文云倨也從人從敖聲敖正敖字也）。

倨傲 (arrogant and haughty: the first character is a fanqie of 居 and 御 [jù]; Du Yu's commentary to the Zuozhuan states: '倨 means arrogant.' Zheng Xuan's commentary to the Liji states: '倨 means disrespectful.' The Shuowen states: '倨 means insolent;' it has semantic 人 and phonetic 居. The second character is a fanqie of 熬 and 誥 [ào]; Kong's commentary to the Shangshu states: '傲 means haughty.' The Boya states: 'It means dissolute.' The Guangya states: 'It means haughty.' The Shuowen states: '傲 means arrogant;' it is analyzed as semantic 人 and phonetic 敖, with 敖 being the orthodox form).
