衡櫓（上正衡字杜注左傳云衡橫也鄭注周禮云平也說文從𧢲從大行聲傳從魚作衡訛也下音虜杜預注左傳云櫓大盾也盾音順說文從木魯聲亦作𰗲音義同）。

衡櫓 (The first character is the correct character 衡 [héng]. Du Yu's commentary to the Zuo zhuan says: "'Héng' means horizontal." Zheng Xuan's commentary to the Zhouli says: "It means level." The Shuowen says: "It takes 𧢲 and 大 as its components, with 行 as its phonetic." In the biography it is written with 魚 [fish] as 衡 [i.e., a corruption], which is an error. The second character has the sound 虜 [lǔ]. Du Yu's commentary to the Zuo zhuan says: "'Lǔ' is a large shield." The phonetic reading of 盾 is 順 [shùn]. The Shuowen says: "It takes 木 [wood] as its radical and 魯 as its phonetic component." It is also written as 𰗲, with the same sound and meaning).
