Brilliant colors ([絢-日+目]彩, the first character has the fanqie 血絹 [xuàn]; Zheng's commentary on the Yili says: "Flourishing of patterns and colors is called 絢"; Ma's commentary on the Lunyu says: "絢 describes patterned elegance"; the Shuowen says: "Derived from 糸 with 䀏 as its phonetic; 䀏 is pronounced 縣 [xiàn], and 糸 is pronounced 覓 [mì]").
