遷[(夕*(ㄗ@、))/貝] [relocating and trading]: The first character is pronounced qiān. Jia [Kui]'s commentary on the Guoyu says: 'It means to change, to follow.' Du [Yu]'s commentary on the Zuozhuan says: 'It means to move.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It means to ascend. It is composed of the [semantic] radical 'movement' (辵) and the sound qiān (䙴); 䙴 is pronounced qiān.' The second character is read with the fanqie mao + hou (mào). The Yupian says: '𧵍 means to exchange in trade.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'To exchange wealth. It is composed of the [semantic] radical 'cowrie/wealth' (貝) and the sound mǎo (夘).'
