而陿 [and narrow]: The second character is read with the fanqie xian + jia (xiá). Gu Yewang says: 'Xiá means not wide and large.' The Shuowen jiezi says it is composed of the [semantic] radical 'mound' (阜) and the sound qiè (匧); qiè is read with the fanqie qian + ye. In the transmitted text it is written with the [radical] 'hand' as [打-丁+(匚@夾)], which is incorrect.
