傳檄（下刑鷁反史記云張儀相秦為文檄楚相是也顧野王云槃書所以罪責當代者而曉喻譬慰百姓之書也漢書可傳檄千里定也說文從木敫聲）。

傳檄 [circulating a proclamation]: The second character is read with the fanqie xing + yi (xí). The Shiji says: 'When Zhang Yi served as Chancellor of Qin, he composed a call to arms directed at the Prime Minister of Chu; this is it.' Gu Yewang says: 'A pan-document used to denounce and hold responsible those of the current generation, as well as a writing to make clear, instruct, and comfort the common people.' The Hanshu says: 'A proclamation could be transmitted a thousand li and settle [the land].' The Shuowen jiezi says it is composed of the [semantic] radical 'wood' (木) and the sound jiào (敫).'
