摺山离（上藍蛤反廣雅摺折也考聲云敗也說文云亦敗也從手習聲下恥知反字書正作𡼁杜注左傳云𡼁山神獸形也說文𡼁亦猛獸也從禽頭從禸屮聲傳文從虫作螭非本義禸音而九反虫音毀也）。

摺山离 (the first character has the fanqie lan + ge [lā]; the Guangya says: "摺 [lā] means to snap / break." The Kaosheng says: "It means to destroy / ruin." The Shuowen says: "It also means to ruin; it has the hand radical and xi phonetic." The third character has the fanqie chi + zhi [chī]; the character books properly write it as 𡼁; Du [Yu's] commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: "𡼁 [chī] is a mountain spirit in the form of a beast." The Shuowen says: "𡼁 [chī] is also a fierce beast; it has a bird/beast head and a rump, with chè phonetic." The transmitted text writes it with the insect radical as 螭 [chī], which is not the original meaning; 禸 has the fanqie er + jiu [róu]; 虫 has the pronunciation hui).
