可怪（下正恠字也說文恠異也從心圣聲顧野王云凡奇異非常皆曰怪傳文從左作恠古字也或作恠俗字也）。

可怪 ('astonishing': the second character is the orthodox form of 恠. The Shuowen says: '恠 means strange. It is derived from 心 (heart) with 圣 as phonetic.' Gu Yewang says: 'Whatever is extraordinary and unusual is called 怪.' In the transmission text it is written with left and right reversed as 恠, which is an ancient character, or written as 恠, which is a vulgar character).
