愀然 ('solemn and sorrowful': the first character has the fanqie 酒由 [jiǔ + yóu]. The Liji says: 'The Master's countenance changed solemnly.' The Kaosheng says: '愀 is like being sorrowful.' The Gujin zhengzi states that it is derived from 心 (heart) with 秋 as phonetic).
