奄曖（上淹儼反毛詩傳云奄大也顧野王云亦匿也隱翳也說文覆也大有餘一曰久也從大從电展下衰袋反王逸注楚辭云曖闇昧貌也說文從日愛聲或作靉）。

Veiled and obscure (奄: fanqie 淹儼 [yǎn]. The Mao Commentary on the Shijing says: "奄 means vast." Gu Yewang says: "Also means hidden, shaded and covered." The Shuowen jiezi states: "To cover; vast with surplus; another definition is prolonged; composed of 大 with 申 extended." The lower graph has the fanqie 衰袋 [ài]. Wang Yi's commentary on the Chuci says: "曖 means dark and obscure in appearance." The Shuowen jiezi states: "Composed of 日 ('sun') with 愛 phonetic; also written as 靉").
