朏然（上妃尾反說文云朏月未盛之明也從月出聲又音普每反未詳）。
Faint crescent (朏: fanqie 妃尾 [fěi]. The Shuowen jiezi says: "朏 is the light of the moon before it flourishes; composed of 月 ('moon') with 出 phonetic." Another pronunciation is the fanqie 普每 [pěi], which remains unclear).
