授戉（于月反說文云大斧也司馬法云夏執玄戉殷執白戚周左仗黃戌右秉白旄從戈[戉-戈]聲集本從金作鉞通俗字[戉-戈]音居劣反）。

授戉 ('Bestowing the battle-axe'; the fanqie is 于 + 月 [yuè]. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'A large axe.' The Sima fa says: 'The Xia held dark axes, the Yin held white battle-axes, and the Zhou grasped yellow battle-axes with their left hand while holding white pennants with their right.' Composed with 戈 as semantic element and [戉-戈] as phonetic element. The collected editions have it with "metal" as 鉞, which is the popular character. [戉-戈] has the fanqie 居 + 劣 [juè].)
