Flogging with a whip (過棰) (The upper character has the fanqie 鵽瓜 [zhua]; the lower character has the fanqie 佳累 [chuí]. The Gujin zhengzi says: "Zhua 撾 means a whip; chui 棰 means to strike. Both characters take 木 'wood' as semantic, with 過 and 垂 as phonetics").
